In the preparation department, you’ll work alongside four colleagues. Together, you’ll cut custom parts from large sheets or blocks of foam, wood, or other materials. These parts are needed to assemble sandwich panels later on.

Your tasks include:

You’ll check the bill of materials (a kind of work description) to see what you need to make.
You’ll cut the material to size using your own sawing table.
You use a machine (a thickness planer) to ensure the material is exactly the right thickness.
You assign a number to each part so it’s clear where it belongs.
You neatly place the parts on a cart so they can be easily transported to the next department.
You keep your workspace clean and tidy.
Every day is different because the dimensions of the panels vary constantly. That’s why paying close attention is important.
